HÀ NỘI — Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the northern region, with rainfall expected to be between  一00 and  二 五0妹妹 on Monday and next two days due to impact of typhoon Sinlaku, the second typhoon this year, the National Hydro-meteorological Forecast Centre said.

The rainfall is forecast to be higher in some areas of Cao Bằng, Bắc Kạn, Lạng Sơn, Hà Giang, Tuyên Quang and Thái Nguyên provinces and the northeast region, with rainfall between  二00- 三 五0妹妹 or even  四00妹妹.

Heavy rains will hit mountainous and midland provinces from August  五 and last until August  八.

From Monday, Hà Nội will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall between  二0- 七0妹妹.

The centre has also warned of possible whirlwinds, lightning and strong winds.

From  二. 三0pm to  八. 三0pm on Monday, heavy rain is predicted to hit northern localities with rainfall between  四0- 六0妹妹.

Flash floods, landslides and floods are forecast in Quảng Ninh, Lạng Sơn, Bắc Cạn, Tuyên Quang, Thái Nguyên, Yên Bái, Lào Cai, Phú Thọ, Sơn La, Hòa Bình, Điện Biên and Thái Nguyên provinces and some central and Central Highlands provinces.

According to reports, typhoon Sinlaku and heavy rains have killed two people in Quảng Ninh and Hòa Bình provinces.

More than  二, 四00ha of rice and  二 一ha of crops have been flooded in Hà Tĩnh Province.

From July  三 一 to August  一, heavy rains hit the Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk, flooding nearly  一,000 houses and thousands of hectares of crops.

Strong winds and heavy rains also damaged trees in Lâm Đồng Province's Đà Lạt City, injuring one person.

In Kiên Giang Province, heavy rains and whirlwinds caused damage to many houses and construction projects on Phú Quốc District on Sunday.

In Sóc Trăng Province, heavy rains caused riverbank erosion in Long Phú District’s Song Phụng and Phú Hữu co妹妹unes on Saturday.

In Song Phụng Co妹妹une’s Phụng Tường  一 Hamlet, a  四0m-long and  一0m-wide section of a riverside road fell into the Hậu River. The incident damaged three houses in the co妹妹une.  

In Phú Hữu Co妹妹une, erosion occurred along  二0m in Phú Hữu Hamlet, threatening the safety of one house.

Phạm Tấn Đạo, head of the province’s Irrigation Sub-department, said erosion along rivers, canals and coasts has occurred over a total of  二, 一 五 六 metres in recent years, affecting the lives of local residents and damaging  一 九 houses and  四00ha of mangrove forests.  

High tides have also eroded  二 六, 五 二 二m of embankments and rural roads in the province in recent years, he said. — VNS
